Winged killer

Maikuro flew high in the clouds on his four wings. He overlooked the land below as it shot past him, spotting every living thing as small as a mouse even from this height. He tilted downwards slightly as he noticed a group of humans entering the stone-valley-cutter they called Ft. Briggs. He didn't particularly care for names nor did he truly understand the use of them, his own just being something that constantly reminds him of itself, like an annoying tick always makes the soft scales under his belly feathers itch. He circled overhead for a few moments then he dove down towards a frozen river snaking its way through the valleys.

Lauren trudged through the snowy landscapes of the bottom of Mt Briggs in North Amestris. She was nice and warm in her thick clothing, with her boots scarf and gloves as well. As she wandered around the base of the mountain, she wondered what the people of Ft. Briggs were like. They were rumored to be extremely tough, but she didn't particularly care for rumors, only hard facts and primary information.
After staring up at the mountains for a while longer, Lauren made her way back into town. She knew she couldn't just go up the mountain and ask to visit the fort, though she wanted to get inside and see what it was like.

Maikuro spotted the other human in the snow, his curiosity peaked at the lone figure trudging back to the wood-stone-nests the humans lived in. He turned slightly and landed upon the banks of the river. As slowly and quietly as he could while on land, he snuck towards the human.

Lauren was well aware of the sounds around her and heard footsteps in the snow. She kept walking back towards the town though, deciding not to turn around as it would waste time, but to just stay alert for anything out of the ordinary. If she was to be attacked, she wasn't about to be unprepared.

Maishuro cocked his head to the side and stared at the human for a moment before following her again. He made small clicks and chirps like any bird, it almost seemed uncontrollable for him to keep that suppressed.

With a disapproving glare despite her curiosity, she glanced behind her and saw the huge bird-like chimera. Somehow, she was unsurprised. Lauren just watched it for a few seconds with a bored expression before turning back towards the town, which was much warmer and more welcoming than the snowy base of the mountain.

Maikuro stopped when the human turned towards him. He snorted and blinked his large eyes when the human turned away. He gave a small cry like a hawk and jumped so he was right behind the human.

Lauren stopped as she heard the chimera landing in the now behind her. She rolled her eyes and turned back towards it.
"What the hell do you want!?" she asked it, knowing that it probably couldn't reply anyhow, "Cause if it's food you're after, then you picked the wrong person to mess with."

Maikuro chirped and cocked his head to the side again. He sniffed the human, either not understanding her anger, or just plainly not caring. There wasn't much reason anyways, any human contact he had was the usual dare devil hiker, and the only thing that has even injured him were bears, which only give him small injuries compared to a few he got from nature itself.

She crossed her arms and shot the bird-reptile hybrid another disapproving look before turning to leave towards the town again. Lauren didn't need some odd chimera that looked like a prehistoric bird following her. In fact, if anything, the creature would draw unnecessary attention that she really didn't need with her reputation.

Maikuro followed the human. He sniffed her form time to time and even began nudging her shoulder, like any curious chick would.

"Cut it out." she hissed bluntly at the odd creature as she pushed it's head away to stop it from nudging her.
"And go away. I don't need a prehistoric bird tailing me."

She stopped to shoot another glare at the chimera before moving again, rearranging her scarf slightly as she walked.

He kept following her despite her obvious annoyance at him. His curiosity had already peaked and he wasn't about to leave.

Despite the fact that she was obviously not happy with the chimera following her, she didn't stop again, or look back. She just kept moving. Her soft footsteps made crunching noises in the snow as she neared the town by the mountain's base.

He followed her towards the town. Out of curiosity, if it was anything more, he bit the end of her scarf and tugged at it.

Lauren felt something tug the end of her scarf that went down her back. She whipped around and gave the chimera a rather hard hit to the head. She knew that she would probably anger it but if there was anything that annoyed her, it was people... or in this case chimeras, tugging at her clothes and otherwise being obnoxious.

Maikuro screeched loudly when the human hit his head, a piercing, ear-splitting, screech that traveled for miles along the mountains. The nearby town would easily hear him from such a close distance.

With that, Lauren turned and stomped off, heading towards the town that would no doubt now be wondering what the hell that screech they just heard was, her jet black trench coat billowing out behind her, looking almost like a cape.

Maikuro growled and jumped out in front of the human. He kept in her way growling and spreading the feathers on his wings to make himself appear larger than he already was and more menacing.

Lauren blinked as he landed in front of her, but then once again watched him with an unamused look, seemingly ignoring his display of strength. She pulled a small notepad and pen out of a pocket built into the inside of her trench coat, glancing up at the sky for the time as she didn't carry a watch.
Quickly noting down the general appearance of Maikuro and a few notes on her location, she shut the book with one hand and put both pen and pad back into the pocket.

Maikuro snorted and continued to glare at the human. He flushed his blood into his feathers making them turn a bright red to increase his appearance.

The freelance alchemist completely ignored the chimera as he flushed blood into his feathers.[Technically they wouldn't be feathers though if you could flush blood into them, because feathers don't have veins, they would have to be thin skin.]
She turned to the left and began walking in that direction instead.

(Didn't know that XD well animes don't always follow the rules of nature) Maikuro quickly stepped in front of the alchemist, growling louder. He circled her and snapped at her from time to time, getting angrier more at her not paying attention more than her having hit him.

(Yea but they don't disregard them completely XD)

Lauren clapped her gloved hands together then bent down and touched the ground. The hard, frozen soil underneath rose up and wrapped itself around Maikuro's feet and legs. When Lauren finished her split second alchemy, there was a small crater in the ground where the soil had come from. Then, with another glance to the sky, Lauren began to walk off again. She needed a coffee.. or some other warm drink. Perhaps she'd have a hot chocolate for once, well, she would actually have to reach the town first.

Maikuro roared loudly and broke the soil wrapped around him. He stood on his hind legs raising himself to his full fifteen foot height. He bent his head and neck down and bit onto Lauren's scarf, think it as a piece of her body instead of clothing, and yanked it.
